Les poids, le jean lacéré, le léo fluo, le t-shirt zèbre ... So 2009 ! Pour avoir la bonne allure en 2010, un briefing sur les nouveaux codes fashion s'impose ! règle n°1 : ne sourtout pas remiser au placard ses pièces en cuir, laine ou tweed, c'est une grand prmière mais les matières d'hiver seront les matières phares de l'été ! Y'a plus de saison ma bonne dame !
Règle n°2 : les imprimés naïfs, Liberty, graphiques ou africains, s'affichent et se mixent.
Allez-y franco ! coté coiffure : on laisse pousser la frange, l'heure est au bohème romantique ! Enfin, l'esprit marin s'affirme comme la tendance insubmersible et nous passe la corde au cou !

What's New Pussicat

An eco-friendly Hello Kitty line, that's what.

Remember when Cher (yes, Clueless reference) promised Miss Giest she'd start a letter writing campaign about violations of the Clean Air Act? Sure, she only did it to increase her grades, but nonetheless, a good deed is a good deed...right?

Joining the vast list of charitable celebs is Hello Kitty, which gets her very own series of eco-friendly goods. With her pink bow still attached, Sanrio declares that “Hello Kitty leads the go green campaign in her cool green overalls and nature-inspired adornment on her paws.” Her new products include jute tote bags, notebooks made of recyclable paper and soy ink, and even an adorable stainless steel coffee mug.

Though we hope the Kitty isn't merely trying to boost her altruistic appeal, it's hard to not support the iconic cat in her attempt to reduce our carbon pawprint.

As for spotting her with a Nalgene bottle in hand, picketing in support of fair trade? That will happen the moment we spot Cher at a freegan party.

Sweet Escape

What's your favorite international candy?

This morning, web editor Rebecca Davis got back from Japan. She brought us Hello Kitty, and juice boxes filled with sake. But the real highlight was the candy, stacks and boxes of panda shaped chocolate, pink sugar cones, and strawberry crackle sticks.

But Rebecca's not the only editor on a sugar high. Bookings editor Eveliene Joos, who hails from Belgium, likes Chokotoff from her native Brussels. Art director Alex Chow votes for salty licorice from Scandinavia. Writer Samantha likes Maltesers from Australia. And the overwhelming office obsession was Haribo gummies, brought back in giant packs by photo director Stephen Walker from his family's house in London.

So what are we missing? What's your international sugar fix?

The Runaways

MOVIE REVIEW: THE RUNAWAYS
This cherry bomb is about to explode. How do Kristen and Dakota fare?

For a movie about sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll, the last thing you expect The Runaways to open with is a splat.

But the graphic opening scene—which we won't give away, since the shock alone is worth the price of admission—is emblematic of how the Runaways were revolutionary, and reveals just how hard it is to get that across onscreen.

The new biopic follows a crew of teenage rebels who turned the music industry (and assumptions about gender) on its head, inspiring legions of bands in their wake before they even finished high school. Director and writer Floria Sigismondi frames her stars—Kristen Stewart as the tough-as-nails Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as the good-girl-gone-bad Cherie Currie—in a gorgeous golden haze that looks straight out of a '70s home video.

Both actors do their roles justice, capturing just what it means to be young and wild; watching them jump in hotel pools and roll around on skates while on tour made us want to join the fun, even though we know the partying and pill-popping doesn't necessarily end well.

But like Cherie Currie, The Runaways loses its way just as it's getting started. Sigismondi's background as a photographer translates into stunning light-drenched shots and dizzying cuts, but the film ends up trying to take on too much material. Sisterhood, girlhood, adulthood, friendship, sexual discovery, the power of rock, and the perils of fame are all crammed into the film (not to mention Jett's story, Currie's story, Kim Fowley's story, and the band's story), making it impossible to do any of them justice.

Despite that, there's something about the movie that's undeniably infectious. Blame it on the soundtrack, the stars, the story, or that opening splat, but you'll be hard-pressed to leave the theater and not want to pick up a guitar and scream, “Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb!”

Comme annoncé précédemment, Katy Perry pose pour le numéro du mois de mars prochain du mensuel Nylon. La jeune artiste américaine, dont le côté excentrique fait toujours recette, a confié aux journalistes du magazine américain être très éprise de son fiancé, Russell Brand, le comédien anglais connu lui aussi pour ses habits excentriques mais aussi et surtout par son appétit sexuel très développé.
Kat Perry, qui avait accepté la demande en fiançailles du comique britannique le Jour de l'An lors d'un voyage romantique en Inde, affirme qu'elle est convaincue que leur relation durera, puisque Brand est le seul à pouvoir gérer la personnalité imprévisible et parfois scandaleuse de la chanteuse. Elle dit : 'C'est un génie sur deux pattes. Simplement me tenir à ses côtés me rend plus intelligente. Il est bon pour moi... C'est le patron, il prend les décisions. Mais j'aime ça. J'ai attendu de trouver quelqu'un que je ne pourrais écraser !
